Las Burras beach

Las Burras beach in south Gran Canaria Las Burras beach in south Gran Canaria

Las Burras beach is the most local of the golden sand beaches in south Gran Canaria and only gets busy at weekends and during school holidays.

With calm water, plenty of sunshine, and even a few fishing boats on the sand, it's a quiet alternative to Maspalomas beach that's within easy walking range of Playa del Inglés. With 300 metres of golden sand, there's always room to sit down in peace.

The beach is 300 metres long with a hook-shaped western end where the fishing boats are stored. At the eastern end, there's a little viewpoint with its own palm tree that is great for photos. Las Burras can be windy but it's enjoyable on most days.

The east end of the beach is the prettiest and the most sheltered and where you'll find the sun lounger concessions and the beachfront restaurants. Las Burras has a lifeguard and foot washers but no public toilets: You can always buy a coffee and use the restaurant toilets.

Swimming at Las Burras is safe unless the red flag is up but it's best to stick to the east end as it is protected by a rocky headland. Snorkel along these rocks for a wide range of small colourful fish and the odd octopus.

Get to Las Burras along the coastal path by walking from Playa del Inglés, or jump on any bus running between Playa del Inglés and San Agustin. You can see the beach from the road just before you get to the San Agustín shopping centre.
