The only cure for buffet belly is to get out there and burn off those extra calories. Here's where to do it in Playa del Inglés and Maspalomas  resorts.

Parque del Sur

Maspalomas' huge urban park is next door to the Holiday World funfair in Campo Internacional and is a perfect place for jogging. The running track is about a kilometre long and goes past lawns, palm trees and the lake.

If you arrive at Parque de Sur early in the morning you'll have it to yourself although it does fill up on the weekends. There's a cheap local cafeteria inside the park.

Meloneras

The seafront Boulevard El Faro at Meloneras goes from the Faro de Máspalomas lighthouse all the way west to Meloneras beach and is great for running provided you go in the morning; At sunset, it's packed with tourists. The boulevard is 1.9 kilometres if you go from the lighthouse to the far end of Meloneras beach.

Playa del Inglés dune front

The Paseo Costa Canaria path starts at the Dunas Mirador at the end of Avenida Tirajana in Playa del Inglés and goes five kilometres east all the way to San Agustín beach. Apart from a few steps, it's a continuous path and great for running. It gets busy as the day goes on so early morning or late evening are the best times to jog.

Campo Internacional running track

The running track at Campo Internacional in Maspalomas runs for kilometres through the streets and parks of the resort but you can also run on any of the pavements; Nobody walks in Maspalomas as the resort is so spread out.

Campo Internacional is a fantastic, flat place for a long run in south Gran Canaria.

The beach

Can't be dealing with concrete? Just head to the beach and you have six kilometres of sand between the west end of Maspalomas beach, via Playa del Inglés beach, and all the way to the end of El Cochino.
