Gran Canaria Weather: Summer Ends This Weekend

Gran Canaria weather turns cooler this weekend Gran Canaria weather turns cooler this weekend www.photosgrancanaria.com

Enjoy the Gran Canaria warmth this week because things turn cooler as of Sunday.

The last couple of weeks have been warm and sunny thanks to a blast of African air and stable conditions over the Atlantic Ocean, but a mass of polar air is due to arrive over Spain on Saturday and the effects will reach the Canary Islands a day later.

Expect temperatures to be much cooler. Cloud and even rain are likely, but it's too early to know exactly how this blob of weather will affect Gran Canaria.

We do know that as it is coming in from the north, the resorts and the south coast will be sheltered by the highland sand will get off lightly compared to the north.

If you're coming to Gran Canaria next week, bring a layer as the evenings will be below 20ºC (that counts as cold round here).

As for surf., this weather system will cause the first serious and sustained swell of the season, especially along the north coast. The forecast has waves up to three metres for Wednesday 25th.
