Bloggers and travel writers obsess about the real Gran Canaria. They write about exploring hidden beaches and finding secret villages. It's silly, to be honest.

Gran Canaria is a fantastic island but, despite what travel writers claim, it's been a long time since someone discovered a new beach or stumbled upon a lost village: There are plenty of places that the crowds miss, but you can't claim to discover them: They're all on Gran Canaria Info for a start.

Resort hell?

Gran Canaria's resorts have shops, restaurants, nightlife and great beaches all within walking distance. Combined with the sunshine it makes them the perfect place for a holiday.

Lots of visitors stay in Playa del Inglés and Puerto Rico and still get to know the island and so can you.

The real Gran Canaria is your Gran Canaria

We say that the real Gran Canaria starts at the door of your hotel or bungalow: The whole island, from the CITA centre to Carrizal de Tejeda hamlet, is real and because it's such a diverse island, you can choose exactly what you want to do here.

Gran Canaria Info

Between Lex and I, we've been photographing Gran Canaria for over 50 years. As a kid here I roamed all over the island with my botanist parents and even found a new plant growing in the Bandama caldera. Lex loves walking and has never seen a road or path that he hasn't walked down. It makes him late for meetings but means he knows an awful lot about Gran Canaria.

Don't let cliches and travel snobbery put you off Gran Canaria: Look through our photos and articles and decide for yourself.
